David Duchovny Enters Rehab for Sex Addiction
David Duchovny is being treated for addiction — sex addiction.
The actor, who plays a bedhopper in his Showtime series Californication, entered a rehab center, his lawyer, Stanton "Larry" Stein, told the media.
"I have voluntarily entered a facility for the treatment of sex addiction," the actor said in a statement. "I ask for respect and privacy for my wife and children as we deal with this situation as a family."
According to the MayoClinic's Web site, sex addiction is defined as when "you have an overwhelming urge for sex and are so intensely preoccupied with it that your health, job, relationships or other areas of your life are affected." It also compares the "high" of sexual activity with that of alcohol, drug or gambling addictions.
The former X Files star has been married to actress Téa Leoni since 1997. They have two children, daughter Madelaine, 9, and son Kyd, 6. Earlier this summer David and Tea put their Malibu home on the market and announced plans to move back to Manhattan, where David was raised, in time for their kids to attend school in New York in September.

In most cases of addiction, it's an insecurity thing and a substitute is needed to give them a feeling of 'self worth.' His acting abilities have not exactly soared, on a scale of 5 I'd give him a 1 for breathing.

With the X-files, David was not playing some kind of sex deviant. Prior to that show, he often selected venues with the sexual tones, and he got NOWHERE. "Californication" is really his own story. Tea must have some kind of part in his decision for the rehab--and good for HER. Maybe it is high time...??!!

David Duchovny has won 2 Golden Globes awards, a National Television Award, a Golden Satellite Award, a TV Guide Award, and an American Comedy Award. He has also been nominated for 3 Emmy Awards and various others. I believe the idiot (your mom) who said that David Duchovny with a degree from Princeton is a sorry actor needs to grow a brain or get some education. He's awesome and will need a lot of prayer to get mentally healthy again. So if your a fan, be nice and pray for him and his family.
