Sarah McLachlan Splits from Husband
Sarah McLachlan is no longer collaborating with her husband/bandmate Ashwin Sood.
The singer, 40, revealed their hush-hush split while promoting her new album of mostly greatest hits, saying two of the new songs were inspired by the dissolution of her marriage.
"I'm separating from my husband, so ["U Want Me 2" and "Don't Give Up on Us"] are the songs about that," Sarah told Billboard.com. "I haven't said anything about it because I've been terrified to, but I figure ... there's no good time to say it, so I just said it."
Sarah called the situation "pretty gross" but did not elaborate on reasons for the grossness, separation or their future plans.
Sarah's been married to Ashwin, 40, who plays drums in her band, for 11 years. They have two daughters — India, 6, and Taja, 14 months.
Her album, which is named Closer: The Best of Sarah McLachlan, comes out Oct. 7.

Actually, in the article that I read she wasn't using her break up to promote her album but was instead talking about how she normally takes years to process things before they come to life in the form of musical expression but lately she has been able through her experience of being a mother to explore what is going on in the 'now' and also artistically express the present...be careful of paraphrased articles, they can be tremendously misleading.

What a LOW way to promo her next album have they NO SHAME
Sarah splitting from husband buy the album /cd for details so tacky And this when she started her affair with him while he was living with her best friend... she wrote songs about how 'sad' she was then too...what goes around comes around and now she wants to make money off this too.. yech! -- XX
