Nicole Kidman: Marriage is Great the Second Time Around
In a new interview, Nicole Kidman revisits her past with ex-husband Tom Cruise, but focuses on her future with "the greatest man," current hubby Keith Urban.
"I didn't foresee it, that you can meet somebody who you have a deep and more profound love with," the actress — who divorced Tom in 2001 — says of the country crooner in the November edition of Elle. "I don't mean to take away anything with Tom, but I would hope that he has the same thing — I know he has the same thing with Katie [Holmes]. You move into a stage where you're able to be a more fuller person in your relationship."
As for whether she married Tom too young — she was only 22! — she said, "Would I want my kids to get married at that age? No! But that was an extraordinary thing for me. [Tom] taught me an enormous amount — as a girl into a woman. Absolutely, I would do it again."
Nic also discussed her new daughter, Sunday, who she gave birth to naturally in July.
"It was the most beautiful thing to go through with him," she said of giving birth with Keith by her side. "I had a great team of women, too. At one point there were nine women in the room and Keith."
She calls Keith the "greatest man besides my dad," saying he's loyal and a soul searcher. And she loves living a quieter life with her new family in their Tennessee farm, where she's said she spends time tending to her organic vegetable garden.
"There's something to be said for going back to a simple form of living — nature and family," she said. "There's something very... there's safety in that."
