Jennifer Hudson's Mom & Brother Killed, Nephew Missing
Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson's mother and brother have been found shot to death and her nephew is missing in what appears to be a domestic disturbance in the family's Chicago home.
"We can confirm that there is an ongoing investigation concerning the deaths of Jennifer Hudson's mother, Darnell Donerson, and her brother, Jason Hudson," Jennifer's rep Lisa Kasteler said Friday evening.
Authorities are also looking for the actress' missing 7-year-old nephew, Julian King, for which an Amber Alert was issued. "We are searching for a young boy from that address who is missing," said Chicago police spokesman Officer John Mirabelli. According to reports the boy is the son of Jennifer's sister, Julia.
One suspect, identified as William Balfour — who was married to Julia Hudson — has been arrested in connection with the shootings, but has not yet been charged according to law enforcement sources.
Police spokeswoman Monique Bond said investigators were talking to "a number of people in custody" but declined to elaborate further.
Jennifer, who recently became engaged to David Otunga, has been busy promoting her new film, The Secret Life of Bees, and self-entitled album.
Jennifer was raised in Chicago by her mother and bus-driver father, who died when she was a teenager. "My mother and father always taught us to be strong in our faith, be strong in our church life," the actress told Vogue in 2007.
In fact it was her mother who got her to audition for American Idol, encouraging the aspiring star to fly to Atlanta to try out for Simon Cowell and company. The singer/actress nabbed a spot on season three of the hit show and made it to the finals. She followed that up with an Oscar for her performance in the 2006 film Dreamgirls. She also appeared in Sex and the City: The Movie this past summer.
As recently as last year Jennifer said she still lived with her mother in Chicago.

My prayers are with the Hudson and King families. Hold on to God's unchanging hand. He is the answer. Having to experience a loss of this magnitude, you all are going to have to lean and depend on Jesus. This is the time of life when blind faith will be tested. You know it is difficult trying to move on without your mother and you will probably think that you will never get over it; but I urge you to try God. Sure, you are going to cry and that may last a while, but God will see you through.

Most people say they know how you feel, they mean well but they don't know! i lost my mother, son and grandma, mom and son within months and grandma the same month of my son's death. I can't say it will be ok but i can say that if your faith is with god you will be ok someday. hey jennifer im so sorry about your family and thank Jesus they are in a better place. The world is very evil but you dont give up shine like a star and i pray for you and the rest of your family for protection and whoever did that to your family is very very cruel because you are going to deal with that for the rest of your life and whoever did that doesnt understand what you are dealing with or going thru im so very sorry and i love your singing very beautiful it touches me and i want to keep prayer on you but dont give up girl cause you are going to be blessed by God since you are always doing good God bless you love ya
