Jennifer Hudson Creates Foundation For Families of Murder Victims
Just a week after the horrific murder of their three family members, Jennifer Hudson and her sister, Julia, have announced the creation of a charitable foundation for the relatives of other murder victims.
The Hudson-King Foundation — named after Jennifer's mother, Darnell Hudson Donerson, brother Jason Hudson and 7-year-old nephew Julian King — will provide food, clothing, shelter and grief counseling to families affected by a violent crime.
Jennifer's mother and brother's bodies were found in their Southside Chicago home on last Friday, and her slain nephew was discovered in an abandoned SUV on Monday. All three had been shot.
The estranged husband of Julia continues to be held in police custody on a parole violation. William Balfour, 27, is a "person of interest" in the case, according to police.
A private memorial service will be held for the three victims on Sunday afternoon in Chicago. The service is invitation only. Later that day the Hudson family is planning a public service for anyone who wishes to pay their respects, however, Jennifer and Julia are not expected to attend.
