Kiefer Sutherland's Lawyer: He Didn't Do Anything Wrong
Damage control is finally underway following Kiefer Sutherland's arrest for allegedly head-butting a fashion designer last week.
Days after the 24 star surrendered to the NYPD and was charged with misdemeanor assault, his lawyer is speaking out on behalf of his client saying he was not to blame in the May 4 incident that left Proenza Schouler designer Jack McCollough with a broken nose.
"We are troubled by the untruthful and self-serving information circulating regarding Kiefer Sutherland and events of last Monday evening," Kiefer's attorney Michael Miller told Star in a statement. "We are confident, however, that the investigation being conducted by the Manhattan District Attorney's Office and the NYPD will confirm that Kiefer Sutherland was neither the instigator nor a wrongdoer in this incident."
Meanwhile, a lawyer for Brooke Shields — whose honor Kiefer was reportedly defending when the scuffle ensued — issued a statement about the actress' involvement in the situation.
"A number of statements have been attributed to Ms. Shields in the media that are neither true nor authorized," attorney Gerald Lefcourt tells Star. "These statements were obviously made by those who were not in attendance at the party and constitute their version of events. While at the party she was bumped into by Jack McCollough and Kiefer Sutherland became concerned. Kiefer has always been a gentleman in her company. Both Jack and Kiefer are friends of Ms. Shields and she regrets this unfortunate situation."
Kiefer will be arraigned in Manhattan Criminal Court on June 22.

It's sad that in this country people get punished for standing up for others.

I think we need to go back 50yrs to a time when reporters reported, took posed pictures and actors/actresses were allowed a life. There was more human respect. This did not go on in the Kennedy era.....look at the change in 50 yrs technology & ideas of freedom being replaced by rudeness......Sounds like a good debate for ethics is journalism.

If he did nothing why is he being arraigned? These statements don't say anything. Kiefer is a drunk.

I hope that everything turns out ok for Kiefer he is so talented. I dont' know much about Jack McCollough...I guess we will NEVER know what happened b/w them..so many stories are coming out!! Kiefer is my fave actor, he is such a talent and I hope everything works out for him. I don't think it should be calling the incident gay bashing, like some are calling it..Kiefer is very liberal, and I don't think it should be labeled "gay bashing"..
