Drea de Matteo Becomes Housewife
Bring on the spaghetti and meatballs! Drea de Matteo is back in another Italian role.
After playing Christopher's girlfriend Adriana on The Sopranos from 1999 to 2006, the actress has joined the cast of ABC's Desperate Housewives. Her character, which will debut this fall, is the head of a new Italian family that moves to Wisteria Lane. Casting is underway for her the matriarch's landscape architect husband and neurotic son.
Drea seems primed to fill the void left by Nicollette Sheridan's departure at the end of last season.
Besides her role on Sopranos, Drea also appeared in Matt LeBlanc's short-lived Friends spin-off, Joey. For the two seasons the show was on the air, she starred as Joey Tribbiani's sister Gina.
Also coming up for Drea? A wedding. She recently became engaged to longtime beau Shooter Jennings, with whom she has a 19-month-old daughter named Alabama.

I like her a lot but she seemed to be a similar character in Joey as the Sopranos.
