Neverland a No-Go for Michael Jackson Funeral

Michael Jackson will not be memorialized — or laid to rest — at Neverland.

Despite an earlier report that the King of Pop would have a public wake at his one-time home — which is named after Peter Pan's mythical island where children never grow up — the family now says that it simply isn't going to happen.

"Contrary to previous news reports, the Jackson family is officially stating that there will be no public or private viewing at Neverland," says a Jackson family statement. "Plans are underway regarding a public memorial for Michael Jackson, and we will announce those plans shortly."

Further, Michael won't be buried on the 2,500 acre property, which is just north of Santa Barbara. The Jackson family -- through the investment company that purchased Neverland in 2008 -- was not able to obtain a residential exemption required for a burial on private property.

I think that he should be burried at NeverLand because he put his heart and soul there, and all that's missing is his body.

Michael Jackson should be buried at Neverland.

he wanted to be like Elvis and maybe he will get to be if he is buried at neverland. FREAK!!!
-- truthtelling

he left there never wanting to return, why send him there now.

Who cares. The whole family needs intense psychiatric care. Hopefully none of the Jacksons will be allowed to raise the kids.
-- Don't care

I wonder if Joe Jackson is going to sell the body to the highest bidder.
-- Liza

Michael should be buried at Neverland and the place should be restored . Those who Michael owed money to could recoop their losses from the revenues of the public coming to visit, like Graceland.
Zoneing Etc can be amended. Ask the Governor!
-- Doesn't That Make Sense?

I think he should be burried where his heart was, at neverland

Translation: The majority owners of this property said "no"

The smart move here however is to follow the Elvis business plan and open Neverland up as a tourist destination. Somebody will be cashing in on Mike's memory...
