Nicole's Heartbreak Shatters Baby Joy
Just as Nicole Richie prepares to welcome her second child, DJ AM's sudden death has sent her into a tailspin of despair and regret. Star has all the details of the moment when she heard the horrible news, and how she's coping.
"Nicole almost collapsed in grief when she found out," an insider tells Star. "She said she felt like her heart stopped for a few minutes." Nicole's doctor raced to the house to check on her.
During their relationship and engagement in 2005, AM — born Adam Goldstein — and Nicole had shared a commitment to beat their addictions. "Adam was the one who got her to straighten up," says a source. "She never thought he'd come to this. She's horrified and regrets that she didn't reach out and help him."

Since Nicole and Adam were very close for a long period of time, I'm sure she is shocked and grief stricken by his death.But, sadly enough, if she had stayed with this man, she would probably still be strung out on drugs or even dead herself.Think about it--truthfully.

No one can save a person from the demons they hold inside themselves that they do not show anyone. I hope he is at peace. I wish he was still here with us, but I hope he is at peace.

Nicole shouldn't beat herself up over this. She should relish in the good times, and realize that people are very selfish when they commit suicide. She has Joel, Harlow, and the new baby to keep up with now. Let by-gones be such.

I think it's great that Nicole got well and is raising a beautiful family. I think she should be grateful for the time they spent together because I believe they did help each other. He was well for years. It is a good thing she moved on with her life. You can't stay with someone because you're afraid someday something bad may happen. How can you predict something like that?

It's so unfortunate, he cheated death once already with the plane crash and now this. It's sad, I was shocked when I heard. Troubles in life aren't ever worth losing your life over, you always seem to get through them if you keep a somewhat level head. Drugs only make things worse.. I am sad for his family friends and for himeself.
