MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 4: KATIE'S PLAN TO ESCAPE
Around 1 p.m. on Aug. 22, Katie Holmes arrived at The Beverly Hills Hotel's Polo Lounge cafe for a lunch date, dressed smartly in a white blouse, dark blue jeans and three-inch black heels — but with anguish clouding her pretty face! "Katie seemed to have the weight of the world on her shoulders," an eyewitness says of the first-time mom (to Suri, 4 months), who showed up without the Scientology "minder," Jessica Rodriguez, who's usually by her side. "She had dark circles under her eyes, like she hadn't had much sleep."
Was she tormented by a lot more than typical new-mom stress? It seems likely, considering who her lunch companion turned out to be. Rather than her fiancé of 14 months, Tom Cruise, 44, Katie was joined by a dark-haired man in his mid-30s who sounded extremely well-versed in the law, as a lawyer or legal advisor would be, and he appeared to be counseling the distressed star! "They were keeping their conversation low-key," says the eyewitness. "But she kept saying, 'I want to file this suit, even if it's just to teach him a lesson!'"
After the meal, Katie, 27 — who was not wearing her engagement ring, the eyewitness claims — insisted on picking up the $105 bill (plus a $30 tip), then left her date with tough final words: "The last thing she said before she left was, 'Put the paperwork together — go ahead and do it!'" Observed the eyewitness: "Whoever she's filing suit against, it seems she's going forward at full speed!"
TROUBLE AT HOME?
