Update: Bail Denied For Nikki Blonsky's Dad
Nikki Blonsky's father has been ordered to stay behind bars in Turks and Caicos until a trial can begin on Aug. 19.
The Hairspray star's dad, Carl Blonsky, was denied bail during a court appearance on Friday stemming from a July 29 airport brawl. Carl's lawyer argued that his client is a sewage plant worker with a clean criminal record who suffers from health problems. "He volunteers at his local church, coaches softball, baseball and soccer. He is taking Xanax, Crestor, and has nerve damage to his arm. He takes Percocet," attorney Oliver Smith said.
However, the judge said that Carl — who has been charged with assault with grievous bodily harm, a felony punishable by up to five years in jail — is a flight risk because he is a foreigner.
Nikki, who was not in court on Friday, faces her own trial date in December where she will answer to charges of causing actual bodily harm, which carries a maximum sentence of two years, and common assault, which carried a 90-day maximum term. She has elected for a bench trial, which means that a judge will decide her fate.
America's Next Top Model contestant Bianca Golden, who was also involved in the melee, is due in court on Sept. 17. She was also charged with actual bodily harm but has selected a jury trial. Her mother, Elaine, was injured in the brawl and had to be airlifted to a hospital in Florida where she stayed for five days.

I hope the best of luck 4 Nikki Blonsky because she's a great actress & I hope 2 see her in more movies & in her heart I'm sure she knows this is not how her fans like 2 see her. The Nikki Blonsky I know is a sweet, caring, and devoted actress & person on the screen & off the screen. According to eyewitnesses, her mother's injuries came from falling down during the scuffle. Nevertheless, Turks & Caicos will still try to throw the book at the father, and the Golden family will still try to sue. -- Carlos

Wow, this is serious, they inflicted injuries. I think he should have been granted bail, this is public, no way in hell can he escape his fate. They should all be held responsible for the brawl including Bianca and her family.
