First Look: Angelina Jolie in Salt
Angelina Jolie is a tough-as-nails woman -- of many disguises -- in the upcoming spy thriller Salt.
The mother of six plays Evelyn Salt — a CIA operative who's fingered as a Russian assassin. In the newly-released trailer for the film, out next July, she kicks major butt and transforms from blonde to brunette, complete with a home hair dye kit.
"She's a character you never know," producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura has said of Angie's role. "People who think they know the real her may or may not. Those who think they can tell whether she's in a disguise also may or may not."
Angelina actually replaced Tom Cruise in the role, which was originally supposed to be about a man named Edwin A. Salt. He dropped out of the flick over a scheduling conflict, so the script was completely rewritten for a female lead.
As you'll see in the trailer, Angie's role was quite physical and she was actually injured filming a stunt. She was treated at the hospital after she bumped her head and got a cut between her eyes.
Salt costars Liev Schreiber as Winter, her boss in the CIA's Russia office.
