Lovely Bones Sister Act: Rose McIver & Saoirse Ronan

In The Lovely Bones, Rose McIver and Saoirse Ronan play sisters — a world apart.

Young Susie (played by Saoirse) has been murdered, though she appears to try and ease the suffering of her family, including sibling Lindsey (Rose). Despite having very few scenes together — Saoirse worked mostly solo, shooting her stuff in front of a green screen — the ladies bonded.

"I had just come off another movie, so I went straight [to the Pennsylvania set to] meet everyone," 15-year-old Saoirse remembers. "I think we met the first day. Because Rose and I are pretty close in age — well, there's six years difference — we bonded from the [start] really. We get on very, very well. She’s one of my best friends."

Rose, 22, adds: "Neither of us have sisters so we kind of took each other."

“Awwww,” jokes Saorise.

Saoirse — who’s from Ireland (read "Girl on the Scene: Saoirse Ronan") — filmed many of her scenes in New Zealand, where Rose is from, so they spent even more time together there.

"It’s great though because even though we didn’t really have that many scenes together in the movie, we got to hang out in New Zealand," says Saoirse. "We still keep in touch and everything."

As for the film -- out this weekend -- the gals say don’t leave home without Kleenex. "Bring your tissues," advises Rose.

I found this a VERY disturbing book to read and VERY difficult to get through. So many people recommended it to me that I kept going, but it gave me nightmares. Perhaps that is a comment on how it stuck with me. It still upsets me even now. I have read many murders mystery's & who-done-it's and love them. Some how this book surprised & upset me & the details just kept getting more disturbing.......
-- I guess I need to see the movie

amazing book - my daughter & I each read it almost in one go, the story is that gripping - can't wait to see the movie, actors appear to be well-cast & talented.
