Shia LaBeouf's Dad Lives in His Son's Garage
Shia LaBeouf is just at the age where many people move back in with their parents after college. But it's exactly the reverse for the Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull star: His nomadic, ex-drug addict father, a graduate of the School of Hard Knocks, has moved back in with him — and has happily settled into Shia's garage. "My dad lives in Montana in a tepee, and he gets cold, so he comes up to my house for the winters and stays in the garage," Shia, 22, revealed about his 60-year-old dad, Jeffrey, during a May 20 appearance on Live with Regis and Kelly. "He's got an air mattress set up for him; it's very comfortable." And Jeffrey confirmed exclusively to Star outside Shia's home near Burbank, "I live here now." Just not in the actual main house — that would be too close, says Shia. "I love him, but we have similar tastes. Living in close proximity, we get into little battles. Over the fridge, over supplies, just everyday average stuff. Toothpaste, clean towels... it becomes a little overbearing, so we keep him in the garage." But Jeffrey may be overstaying his welcome! "It's not winter anymore, and he's still here," says Shia. "You can't be like, 'Hey Dad, listen, it's time to go back to your tepee.' You can't make him leave."
