Usher's Wife "Stable" After Surgical Complication
Usher's wife is in stable condition following a surgical procedure — possibly plastic surgery.
Tameka Raymond experienced complications while undergoing an operation in South America, which forced Usher to cancel a performance at a pre-Grammy party so that he could rush to her side.
On Saturday night, Usher canceled his performance at the Recording Academy and Clive Davis's pre-Grammy Gala. Music mogul Clive told partygoers the singer couldn't attend due to a "serious injury in the family." Access Hollywood reported that the serious injury was in fact "complications from plastic surgery" and a neurosurgeon, Dr. Gabriel Hunt, from Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Center was being rushed to Tameka's side.
Today a spokesperson confirmed that Tameka is hospitalized, but kept quiet about whether or not it was due to a cosmetic procedure.
"Tameka Raymond is in stable condition after suffering complications from routine surgery in Brazil," her rep told the media. "Her husband Usher is with her at the hospital. No further details will be released, and the family requests privacy at this difficult time."
Tameka, who married Usher in 2007, is the mother of the singer's two young sons — Usher Raymond V, 14 months, and Naviyd Ely, almost 2 months. She has three other children from a previous marriage.
