The Babysitters
Rating:
Who's in it: John Leguizamo, Katherine Waterston
What's it about: A babysitter with a crush on one of her customers unexpectedly winds up as madame for a chain of babysitters who provide extra services on the way home.
Tipping allowed: This film has a great set-up, with lots of sexual tension as the innocent, college-minded babysitter Shirley (Waterston, daughter of "Law & Order"'s Sam) finds herself caught up in passionate fling with customer Michael (Leguizamo). But when he gives her a huge tip - and then asks if she has a friend who can do the same for a friend of his - things get weird. Unfortunately, after they get weird, they get totally ridiculous, with plot lines about rival babysitter rings and girls who can't take the pressure of sex for money. Plus the whole older guy-teenage girl thing starts out as thrillingly taboo and then just turns pervy. Still, Waterston is a find, an actress who shows a lot of emotional range.
Long story short: It leaves you feeling icky.
