The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond
Rating:
Who's in it: Bryce Dallas Howard, Chris Evans
What's it about: In New Orleans in the Roaring 20s, a debutante scandalizes society by taking up with a sharecropper's son.
Tennessee time: This tale of flighty Fisher Willow (Howard) and one long night of her life is based on a never-produced screenplay by Tennessee Williams ("A Streetcar Named Desire"). Fisher can't stand the society boys and so she picks Jimmy (Evans) as her escort to the big shindigs of the season. But she and Jimmy can't seem to get on the same page romantically because of their social differences. Howard has the right high-strung approach to be a Williams heroine - though, for a change, this cookie doesn't crumble. Still, this is often a slow-going story that's probably only for hardcore Williams fans.
