Tom Cruise's Oprah Interview
The first part of Tom Cruise's interview with Oprah aired today. And what glamorous tidbits did he reveal about his life with Katie Holmes? Well, for one, they roast hot dogs together. Part one of the interview took place at Tom's Telluride home. Katie made a surprise appearance to say "hi" to Lady O, then — after showing off a pair of Suri's ladybug shoes — she excused herself to take the kids to town. Tom gave a tour of his digs — from Suri's playroom and the outside of Connor and Bella's rooms ("They were like: 'Don't go in my room,'" Tom laughed) to the outdoor spot where the family roasts hot dogs together. Here are some other highlights from their interview: On the infamous couch jumping incident: "It was a moment and it was real. I felt that way and I feel that way about [Katie]... I just cannot articulate what it's like — that feeling and that connection and just who she is and what she means to me. It was just very special. And Suri was born a year to the day that I met [Katie]. The same day. April 18 is the day that I met [Katie]; April 18 Suri was born. It just kind of has that thing, you know?" On being accepted by Katie's family: "They're amazing. I love them. They're such amazing people, and you see why Kate is such an amazing woman. Incredible integrity and strength and they're family." On Andrew Morton's book that implied that Suri isn't Tom's daughter: "I've had a lot of books written about me. And when someone [compares] your daughter to Rosemary's Baby? It's one thing to come after me, say stuff about me, but when it comes to my family, my children, that's when I went: This is off the chart." On the rumor Nicole Kidman has been pushed out of Bella and Connor's lives: "No, that's ridiculous. We share custody. [She can see them] whenever. Whenever." On attacking Brooke Shields for taking drugs to treat postpartum depression: "Brooke and I have always been friends and [my comments] came out wrong. It was something that I apologized to her for. As a result, we're actually even closer friends.... What I regret is even discussing Brooke in any way." On the Matt Lauer interview in which Tom called Matt "glib": "I was feeling pressed in the interview with Matt Lauer. For me, my issue was really about child drugging... And it gets down to, I think, that it's got to be the parent's choice. That' s their decision... Obviously afterwards I felt I could have handled it better. Even that day I felt that I shot the messenger. It came out wrong... If you read [Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard's book] Dianetics, you know that it talks about postpartum depression, but even outside of that I know that. I was raised by f our women who have children and have babies. [I'm] not trying to tell anyone how to live their life or what they should believe or shouldn't believe in any way." On coming under attack for being a Scientologist: "You look at it and go: Okay, I understand the interest in it. It's a minority religion and I think that sometime s people misinterpret. [When I used to not] talk about it, it was: "Oh, he's avoiding it." Then someone asked the question and I answered the question, then it became my "preaching." So, after that happened, I went: Alright, from now on I'm dealing with my humanitarian issues. I'll talk about my humanitarian issue s and when I'm promoting a film, I'm just going to promote the film. T hat's just the way it's going to be." On the infamous YouTube video of Tom talking about Scientology: "It was a stolen video from an event that we have every year. I was receiving an award that evening for global literacy and it was a very private moment. I'm actually talking to my congregation, just like you're talking to your church. Well, it's another thing to say, "Hey, look. He's preaching." Well, it's not set up — it's totally out of context." What do you think of Tom's statements to Oprah? Do you like him more or less now? i do not care about that rich bich Tom

I feel bad for Connor and Isabella. It seems he worked SO HARD at keeping their childhood and home lives private as they were growing up and now he has Suri and it's 100% opposite. Why? Is she more favored? It would seem to me (if I were Connor or Bella) that Daddy likes her better because she is not adopted. Can you feel this vibe too? They are portrayed to the media entirely different. They show the setailed lining of Suri's stupid little shoes and crap. Hardly ever do you see any real substance, emotion or detail about Tom's other "children." It gives me the chills. It appears that Suri is an only child. How can she be lonely if she has two already-approved and Scientology indoctrinated siblings to play with? Or are even they not good enough for TomKat's reincarnation of the the Divine Science FICTION writer-turned religion inventor L. Ron Hubbard. I read Dianetics, it's an interesting book, but only from the standpoint of good science fiction. Ray Bradbury didn't start a religion. Tom is doing his entire family a disservice. The one good thing is that the older he gets, he looks more and more like his mother! HA HA! Justice finally. That woman is atrociously ugly. Have fun Tom. Show those fangs!

he's a weirdo and i swear he's gay and trying to turn Katie Holmes into a man/boy toy to play with.

I still think that Tom Cruise is a bit of a wack job. I think that he has allowed his "fame" go to his head. Lets isolate my wife and child from "normal" real life to live in a bubble and claim it is how Scientologists live. Get real Tom Cruise!

What Tom believe's is his business but it is when he tries to ram Scientology down people's throats that it gets offensive. My mother's bookcase had L.Ron Hubbard books in it which Ifound after she died. Any form of religion is a personal matter.

as a whomen intuiton tells me something that bothers me as a abused womem myself first it's the keep u away from friends they then keep u away from family, and then they have controll, to what u say, what u do and behave, how and when u raise your children, but time will tell for Katie is not stupid by no means i only care about thier acting and tom is good but Katie is a class actress

i feel that in the heat of the moment people can say and do things they would never if they would have been calm. also people should really only care how he is in movies and not dwell on his personal life as much. we pay him to be in movies and to perform in them only. that does not mean that we have control or the freedom to judge his personal life.

I find him to be very scripted and telling what he thinks people want to hear at this point to save his career. He is in fact one of the best actors ever but his true person is lost in all that. I think that the money and the fame have definately gotten to his head and made him more and more strange over the years. I want to like him because I think he is very intelegant and could really inspire people to change their bad habbits like with the environment but at this point who can possibly take this guy seriously. To me he seems like he is trying to live a life that you see on the big screen that is filled with scripts and to me that is not a person true to themselves let alone anyone else.

He's a good actor and has a beautiful family.None of us should be judging whether he and his family are happy or not...we don't live with them and frankly, its none of our business.I'm a christian and have different beliefs than he does but this is America and we do have freedom of religion and free will so maybe we should let him have whatever religion he chooses.
