First Look: Vanessa Hudgens in Beastly

Having dated Zac Efron since 2006, Vanessa Hudgens knows a little somethin-somethin about young love. She'll be bringing that experience to the big screen next year in Beastly, a fantasy flick about an edgy teen romance that necessitates seeing past false surfaces to discover inner beauty.

In this updated Beauty and the Beast story, Alex Pettyfer plays Kyle, a jerky guy who pisses off the wrong girl (Mary-Kate Olsen's Kendra), who in turn casts a spell on him ruining his appearance. The only way to undo the spell is if he finds someone to love him just as he is.

Enter Vanessa's character Lindy, who — through a set of unusual circumstances — moves into Kyle's Brooklyn home.

Convenient!

In a Brooklyn brownstone (presumably), love blooms.

The film hits theaters July 30, 2010.
