Johnny Depp's Gal Pal on the Actor: He's a Charmer!

October 13, 2008

Johnny Depp's longtime love talks about snagging the hunky actor, his sex symbol status and their plans for the future.

"We were in two different worlds — him in America, me in France — but we had friends in common," his girlfriend of over 10 years, Vanessa Paradis, says in the November's U.K. edition of Elle. "We saw each other sometimes over the course of four years. But then, the day we found each other in Paris, we were both in the same world and free and it was just instant. There was no more time to waste — just no way around it."

When asked if she thinks she "tamed" the A-list star, who dated Kate Moss and was engaged to Winona Ryder, the singer says: "Tamed? What's that? Like a lion? Noooo, no, we did it to each other. Maybe I'm a good girlfriend because I'm his girlfriend. I'm not sure I'd be a good girlfriend to anyone else; the same for him. It's difficult to explain, but it's something that's natural, obvious and beautiful."

That said, the parents of Lily Rose, 9, and Jack, 6, "don't talk" about marriage much. "He's got me, and he knows he's got me," Vanessa says.

But she gets the attraction that women have for Hollywood's highest paid actor. "I understand. I want to mob him all the time, I do," she says. "He's a very charming person."

Do you think Vanessa and Johnny should get hitched after dating for over 10 years? Or do you think: If it ain't broke, why fix it? Tell us what you think.

I agree with Vicki. You can tell when they are together they love each other. Who needs a piece of paper. Everyone should be as happy as Vanessa & Johnny are together and they BOTH LOVE their kids.

Marriage usually ruins a good relationship so if everything is great now why change.

I agree. If it ain't broke don't fix it. I agree with Alei it could make things worse.

To me, it doesn't matter. They have said over and over that they already feel like they're married and I am a huge fan of both of them and support them in whatever they do or don't do. As long as they have each other and are happy, then that's all that matters.

Cheers to them, they are such a beautiful couple.

If they don't need a piece of paper to show their love for each other then NO they shouldn't. It might even make life worse. Since they've made it 10 years then just leave it alone!!!
-- Alei

They have 2 beautiful children, they love and respect each other and are financially secure. The bible thumper Lisa needs to get a life. Do you realize how many people have been killed in the name of religion? They have stayed together and love each other, get a life!
