Zac Efron: Goodbye High School Musical, Hello Footloose
Zac Efron is ready to graduate from High School Musical.
At the press junket for High School Musical 3: Senior Year in Beverly Hills on Sunday, the teen heartthrob talked about filming his third and final film in the series and moving on to new roles.
"We knew this would be the last time we would all be together in this capacity," the actor, who plays Troy Bolton, said of the third movie, "so we were soaking it up. We took every opportunity to kinda revel in the scenes and in the dances."
The actor says he's looking forward to tackling new roles and already has several in the works.
"Earlier this year, before I filmed HSM3, I filmed 17 Again, where I play a 37-year-old guy in a 17-year-old's body. And right after that I did Me and Orson Welles, more of a drama, which is set in 1937 and is about the Mercury Theatre Group putting on their production of Julius Caesar. Two different roles."
As for rumors he'll appear in an updated version of Footloose, Zac says he's ready to cut loose. "Footloose is coming together actually," says the star. "We're trying to figure out the right way to do it, and it seems like it's going to happen."
And his fans don't have to worry about recent reports that he was recently attacked in London while out with gal pal Vanessa Hudgens.
"There was no scary fan encounter," sighs the superstar. "I didn't get touched. I don't know what exactly happened. I walked and got into a car, and [the next thing I know] I had all my relatives calling me, 'What happened? What happened?!' It was blown out of proportion."
