Kylie Jenner and Selena Gomez’s Beauty Battle Heats Up as Forbes Revisits Billionaire Claims
In 2019, Forbes magazine trumpeted that Kylie Jenner, who parlayed her reality show fame into the super-successful Kylie Cosmetics line, was the world’s youngest self-made billionaire at 21 years old.
But just a year later the business publication accused the Kardashians star of inflating the company’s success and stripped her of the title. (At the time, Kylie, now 27, called the report “inaccurate.”) “It was humiliating,” an insider tells Star. “She felt like people couldn’t wait to tear her down.”
Now the insider says the mom of two is loving watching her frenemy Selena Gomez, 32, get the same treatment. In May, Forbes alleged the Rare Beauty founder is also no billionaire, contrary to reports.
“Kylie always felt Selena got a free pass because the narrative is that she’s sweet and nice, while Kylie had to deal with people calling her a fake,” says the insider. “So it’s vindicating to see Selena being taken down a notch!”
